Yiddish: Go Light, Go Easy! with Avi Fried

This is a class that gets you started reading and speaking Yiddish from the very beginning. No previous knowledge required! 

When: Each Sunday (except Rosh Hashana), Starting on August 27th, ending on November 12:

Strength, Flexibility and Yiddish Energy Yoga in Yiddish (with English Translation)

In this yoga class we will progressive reactivate the body and mind to develop strength and flexibility. 

When:  Sunday, August 27,  8 a.m. PT (10 a.m. CT, 11 a.m. ET, 4 p.m. in the UK, 5 p.m. in most of Europe, 6 p.m. in Israel)

Conversational Yiddish for Beginners

This 6-session class will be focused on conversational Yiddish. You will learn everyday greetings and basics of Yiddish conversation, as well as a few simple Yiddish songs.

When: Thursdays, starting on October 12, ending on November 16, 2023, 6:00-7:30 p.m. PT (8:00-9:30 p.m. CT, 9:00-10:30 p.m. ET). 

Yiddish Shmueskrayz with Tamara Gleason Freidberg

In this class we will will speak in mame-loshn about diverse topics and try to solve a couple of riddles and learn some Yiddish expressions.

When: Thursday, November 2 11 a.m PT (1:00 p.m CT, 2:00 p.m ET, 7:00 p.m in the UK, 8:00 p.m in Central Europe)

Yiddishland California in La Jolla is a cultural center created by the nondenominational non-profit organization, the Yiddish Arts and Academics Association of North America (YAAANA). YAAANA is classified as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization according to the standards of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Yiddishland California’s  mission is to expand awareness of the beauty and joy of Yiddishkeit and to preserve and advance Yiddish language and culture within the US and worldwide. Our events and offerings include concerts, performances, language and art classes, lectures, exhibits, and much more. We educate and entertain while offering both in-person and online participation for those who are local or far-flung.
